Wee, a hummingbird! And, my first complete deviation of the summer! Although, I'm not really sure whether this counts as a summer drawing. Although I did most of the details today and finished it today, I started it a while ago. I just didn't finish it then because I was swamped with projects, papers, and final exams. O__o; But, anyways, here it is. I hope you like this drawing- it took me quite a while and was 30 layers. x__x Please critique! Oh, and of course, I used a reference. I don't have the url since I just saved the picture, but if anyone REALLY wants me to find the reference for them, I'll dig the url up.

My best friend, the magnify tool. x3
EDIT: Keep in mind while you're looking at this that the white behind the eye isn't part of the eye, but just white feathers that happen to be behind it.
Aww, thank you!! It really isn't that hard if you approach things a bit at a time using the magnify tool and a reference. I'm sure you'd be able to do it, too. ^__^
wow It looks so realistic! The feathers on the tail and the way the colour blends is really nice ^^

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
